«All applications differ slightly from site to site and may be very different if the upstream process is unusual. Mecana use pilot plants to determine the exact operational performance of the filter media and from this design the full scale system as risk free.»

Research and Development

Mecana is constantly developing new technologies and applications. We are cooperating with various institutions and universities on many different research projects, with the main focus on phosphorus reduction, elimination of icropollutants and freshwater filtration.

With the following projects, we were able to demonstrate the robustness of the Pile Cloth Media Filters in the elimination of micropollutants:

  • WWTP Lahr (D): Pile Cloth Filtration after PAC stage (adsorption reactor with sedimentation) funded by the Waste Water Companies.

    The WWTW Lahr has been upgraded with PAC and Pile Cloth Media Filter. The added stage is in operation since the beginning of 2015.
  • ISWA University of Stuttgart (D) Project Microflock. Pile Cloth Filtration after PAC reactor without upstream sedimentation, sponsored by the MUNLV
